facebook presentation

This is the presentation of my final analysis that includes all my final work to date. It shows all my graphs and spread sheets and the final ideas.  From this I decided the sports app/betting app, would be the most original idea and practical as it is mobile and it will make facebook money.

These links are to to the spread sheet I originally completed to record my findings from my character summary essays.  The spread sheets show the design opportunities I gathered from my classmates after they read the essays.  I left my own comments beside the classmates to show my own thoughts on what was write.  The spread sheet is broken down into user one and user two, and the comments are broken into the headings of motivation, interaction, interface and visual.
I then completed a filter spread with 10 different filters. This was to break down the comments to find the most popular ones.
The bar graph visually represents this.
The scatter graph was to narrow the ideas further.  I used 2of my filters, the yes/no and the mobile/not mobile filter to put them into groups.  I decided the yes and mobile box would be the group where the design opportunity would come from.

In interactive design we were giving the task of character recording two Facebook users.  The first was myself and second had to be someone you knew but in a different age group.  I chose my aunt. Above are the essays I used to record how Facebook is used within my own life and my Catrina's, the point of this essay was to find the user's motivation for using facebook and to give the bases on finding how Facebook could improve. These essays are the beginning of a process that will inevitably find out where the design opportunities are within Facebook.

women's aid brochure

front cover

These are some examples of the pages I worked on first in black, you have to ignore the white bleed border and the odd sizes, it is a first draft!!

women's aid brochure

Front and back cover,
sizes still need tidied up
but its getting there.

Few pages from the 24 page brochure I created for women's aid.  Using typography and mark marking to create the look I wanted a David Carson influence without losing my own style. I used blurred type like him and the marks.  Originally in black, I was told maybe this deep purple would appeal more to the women.  Personally I prefer the black!

no more nukes

Original collage I made from illustrations, photos, and coloured paper.

A complete illustrated poster, before I could use adobe illustrator, I drew the image out to look cartoon like, brought the original sketch into photoshop and coloured it from there.

Adding colour to the globe in the collage image in photoshop.

Trying something a little more serious looking, concentrating on the typography as the main focus.  I added the
periodic number of plutonium and uranium above the U and P , being a bit clever, but doubt most know that so it doesn't have the desired effect.

These images were part of a live brief, the no more nukes poster competition for Japan. on www.graphiccompetition.com.

school of creative arts leaflet designs

I kept the design for these simple.  They are sized 8.5x5.5 (when folded) which I measured from a bank card as to allow easy storage in a wallet or purse.  I took the original photo for these using coffee granule's and marking the course title into it, and changed to colour for each one.  The brief stated these leaflets must look like set and I believe that together this is visible.  On the inside of my first design there was a statement about the course and the qr code to the website which I had to reconsider when I decided to crop the size.  I decided the only information needed was an inspirational quote that describes the course and the qr code.  I am pleased with the final product.
